Indian government bans 47 more Chinese apps ; PUBG among another 271+ apps under scanner

Indian Government has banned 47 Chinese apps over user privacy violations. Indian government  has prepared a list of over 271 + including Pubg and Ali express, for allegedly sharing Indian user data with Chinese agencies. 


The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has banned 47 apps which were variants and cloned copies of the 59 Chinese apps  that were banned in June. These 47 banned app clones include Tiktok Lite, SHAREit Lite, BIGO LIVE Lite and Helo lite news agency ANI reported


A government press release announcing the ban stated: "The Ministry of Information Technology, invoking it’s power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and in view of the emergent nature of threats has decided to block 59 apps since in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order"
